Natural Hair Show & Tell⎜Flexi Rod Set

Not really a tutorial...I just wanted to share how my recent flexi rod set turned out.
I tried something new, no setting lotion or mousse or foam but a gel to set instead.
It was not too bad at all! No crunch but a little bit of flakes.
Let me know below how you so your flexi rod sets!

Success #30Layers30Days

How do I define success?
By how accomplished I feel at the end of the day. If I can get my whole To-Do List completed by there end of my small little 24 hours, I feel quite successful.
I use to measure by more than a day. Setting goals for years in advance. Once I reached a goal, completed an accomplishment, I would then feel successful.  The problem with this is it would take me too long to get to another accomplishment. Thus making the feeling of success few and far in the between.
Then it would take me months to then again feel successful.    *sigh*

Time to change it up.

So my goals became smaller. Easier to accomplish, complete. Then making me a quite successdul woman all in one day.
I didn't want to feel useless and purposeless...I wanted to feel more important. Instead of relying on another to make we feel as awesome as I am, I just looked at myself in this new light.

Each day I completed my TO-DO list. Each time I marked off something, I felt more and more successful. I could have been thinking that was pacifying myself and making my goals "baby-sized".
But I don't beat up my mind anymore.

Who cares if they don't think you do great things everyday.....you know the truth.

Give a Little Praise

Everyone enjoys a little praise.
The best kind I think is when you were not even trying. Someone notices something about you that you didn't yourself.
Lately I haven't been paying attention to my weight. No exercising or dieting. But others seem to be noticing a change. I enjoy getting a compliment on my weight loss. I haven't actually loss weight in months!
Sometimes it encourages me to continue in the path. Even if I have gotten off for a bit. Continue to eat health, keep the compliments coming.
A lil shallow sounding but like I said, every one enjoys a little praise. Cut yourself some slack and bask in the compliment.
Then you can take that praise and give it to another as well! Give someone else a moment to enjoy themselves. Small words can have big effects. You never know who may need that encouragement.
I know somedays, I do.

Don't Fix Me, Love Me

God does not make mistakes...so there is no need to try and fix me.

I'm emotional, I mean beyond the average female. I few years ago, I looked at it as a curse. It was consuming me. I felt like I couldn't function without the fear of an emotional breakdown. I would try so hard to fight it and reject it that I would end up exploding.
No bueno.

Then I thought, since holding back clearly wasn't working. Why not try to embrace the emotion. Use it to work with me and stop trying to contain it. I started blogging and youtubing. My emotion became my asset instead of a crutch.
I used it to fuel my passions and help me get my blogging started. I still have to work on something's but I can say my emotions don't get in the way anymore. I look to them more often to use in my own way. Instead of an emotional breakdown, I can have a creative outburst.
Because I accepted my emotions, I realized the blessing in them.

100% [Mission Statement of My Life]

To be an inspiration everyday of life, to everyone that I meet and come in contact with. Let them know that they are special, they have a purpose in life for God, themselves, and others.

I havent been living up to my own mission! Not even 50%! I need to do better.
Lets start with a goal, shall we! I love a good goal.
Inspire at least one person daily. Make it a point to give inspiration in any way posible.

Inspriration is more than just a creative boost. Its encouragment, letting them know that they can reach their highest goal. Its love to another. Kindness in a pure and simple form.
It may not be nessecary but sometimes its a lifesaver.
Without inspiration, I wouldnt be writing this blog! Looking to inspire someone else. The little things, they mean so much.
As Always, thanks for reading!

New Season [Happy September]

As always, I want challenge myself. As always, I don't stay committed. But I continue to want to better myself, my craft. In itself, it is a commitment. But really its just a dream that i never let go and never do anything about.
Do better, Nicole.

One of my favorite bloggers, GG Renee, has started a 30 Day Self Discovery Challenge.
I honestly don't really understand it. Am I suppose to write something everyday? Or just think about myself? Discovery my layers and then what? I don't know.
So I am going to makeup (make up, see what I did there?) my own rules and combine it with a writing challenge from Kimberly Luxe.

So here are the two....

I think...I CAN do this! I will commit and I will complete.
Eve tho I am already starting late....Better late than never.
Day 1 and Day 2 will be combined and will be up later today!

Stay with me.
As Always, thanks for reading!

ReBlog: Encourage Yourself- Life Goal

Originally Posted on Perfectly Imperfect Me

So today I was feeling down. There are just some things in life that I feel are not going the way I want them to go. For whatever reason, I am not content with where I am in life. I am 25 years old, Single, no children, have my own place, pay my bills-although it can be a struggle sometimes. Sometime you have to take a mental step back from your situations and daily struggles and look at your life as a whole. You have to look at your life as if you are not the one living it. When I looked at my life this morning, I see that is not terrible as it feels on a daily basis, LOL. I had to encourage myself in the Lord and know that what God has for me it is for me and that he will not put more on me than I can handle. So one of my goals is to be content with the things that God has given me and learn to master the daily things that come my way in this moment. I must become content but never complacent. When God sees that I am ready he will move me into the next level in life. I hope that someone who is going through some of the same things I am going through will be inspired to make a change in their thinking and grow a little more.

Signed,

PIM

Inspiration: Why Blog

I blog to INSPIRE! Not just in one direction, but in ALL.

I love blogging. I love to read others and be inspired to write my own. This way I get a chance to connect with beautiful and talented people across the globe that I would never meet otherwise.

In my morning reads, I came across this article about blogging and a blogger's reason for starting a blog.
I personally decided my reason for blogging on day one. But sometimes you can lose sight, like with anything else.  So this article helps with just that. You can also take this and adapt it for anything that you do that is your creative outlet.
Enjoy!

I was recently emailed by a gal who has been blogging for a while and has started to get frustrated at not reaching these goals she set for herself. I’m obviously deciding not to share as those are private to her and I’s conversation. Either way, it lit a spark in me and made me realize that no many are speaking the truth behind blogging and the realities of it all. So this being a stranger and for no other reason than me being me, I decided to give it to her straight as I won’t any of you, my best friend or in front of a room at a conference.
I decided to share with you this email I wrote in response to her to maybe either: 1. Help with any frustrations or 2. Resonate and spark something inside of you. Peace and blessings ya heard.
(DISCLOSURE: For those of you who know how I talk and write and all that good stuff, this is familiar but for all you newbies. Hold back on the defense tip. Take it in and think about it.) xprofresh

Hey girl!
Thanks for emailing. Listen, totally hear you. I’ve been blogging for 5 years now and it’s no where near what people think it is.
1. I’m broke, brands don’t pay shit unless you have an agent (which I don’t advise, I’ve turned down opportunities that sounded good at the time but wouldn’t be worth sacrificing my brand)
2. The life I’ve created on the blog, although definitely more realistic than most blogs, my life isn’t actually all that great and exciting. And to a lot of people, it looks as if I’m successful. Boo, I’m far from it.
3. I work a full-time job (which is my career choice), blogging money is never enough and I hardly have time to actually blog. With all that said, the blog should never, ever, ever be about the money or making it a full-time gig.
Here’s my advice. You’ve got the normal requirements for a blog: white background, clean layout, beautiful images and cute style. But…. WHAT ARE YOU SAYING?! Here’s the thing: there are 2 million fashion blogs in the U.S. alone. That’s 2,000,000 and counting! So think about your blog and be honest with yourself when answering these questions:
What do you stand for?
What is your purpose?
Who is your audience?
Why should they care?
What makes you different?
Why did you start a blog?
And there are a few things to remember.
1. It’s not about money
2. It’s about working with brands
3. It’s not about becoming famous
4. It’s not about getting free shit
If those are the reasons you’ve started your blog, it’s time to reconsider. Don’t be unrealistic with yourself because only you know the truth. If you have started your blog for any of those reasons, go back to those questions I wrote above. If your answers don’t lead to a conclusion of, “I wanted to start a blog because I had something different to say/contribute/add” then blogging just may not be right.
This all prob sounds harsh but listen boo, the blogging world is ridiculous. It’s nothing of what it used to be. Blogging back in 2008ish, was about saying something in the open air just because your friends didn’t understand you, so at least you could tell the internet. Now, it’s just incredibly corporate feeling: with politics, bribery, deceit and disgusting individuals all around.

Inspiration: Time to Re-Evaluate

Sometimes you just have to start over.
Or take a different approach.
Stop.
Think.
Make a new plan of attack.
Re-Evaluate.

Sometimes things happen in our lives and we get suck in them. They take all our energy and focus.  We  end up losing ourselves. Losing our goals, our future, even our happiness. We may become depressed. Secluded. Alone but surrounded. Suffocated by this situation or circumstance.
When you get in these situations, it can be hard to get yourself out before you get so low you hit bottom. And sometimes you don't know where to start.

I am a [very] emotional person by nature. I tend to think, process, over work everything in my brain. Sometimes harping on it and making it a situation worse than it is.
Even someone not as emotional as me, can go through something similar.

So here are some processes that I use when I need to re-evaluate my situation and my way of thinking, and therefore, acting.

  • Take some time out of your day to stop. Time to think. Time to make a plan of attack.
  • Make a list of the things you want to do or accomplish in the NEAR future. Don't choice anything to long term; sometimes seeing yourself reach goals quickly helps you keep commitments and encourages more goals.
  • Start a journal or a notebook. Some people don't like to write down their feelings or daily activiies but that brings up the next tip...
  • Say your goals out loud. Making a promise to yourself can be simple and effective. Easy to hold yourself accountable.

Some times allowing your mind to slow down, forget the pain that may be holding you down can clear the way for the new.
It should be simple and easy [so you wont make excuses not to do it].
Simple and easy can be effective and life changing!

Inspiration: Dare to be Shameless

SHAME: a negative emotion that combines feelings of dishonor, unworthiness, and embarrassment; capacity to feel unworthy
SHAMELESS: not feeling shame, untroubled or unaffected by shame, especially in situations where others would be ashamed

Have you ever been 'shameless' about anything in your life? Just gone all out, no looking back, giving it your all, shameless?
I'm sure you have.
Now think...was it something of worth...Did it change anything with you or your life? Make you better? Make you more of yourself? Help you reach a destination? Or was it just pointless?

Many things we do in life we do just because. No reason, no back story, just something to do. But to do something in your life that sets you on track for who you are suppose to be, what you are suppose to do, and ultimately catapults you into the position of being YOU...that right there, that's something.

I am currently a YouTube and blog junkie. Through me searching the web, watching tons of videos, reading tons of blogs, I come across some interesting things. The most interesting thing or person that I have came across so far is 'Shameless Maya'. This woman is so inspiring to me! Her story is amazing, so is her work and her shameless-experiment.
