Picking drugstore foundation is especially hard because the color matching sometimes makes it intimidating. Also, you can't test in the store. Most just don't get anything. And some just get frustrated and pick hastily. I know, I was one of these...well, I just wouldn't get anything.
Now I think I have the perfect way to pick the drugstore foundation for me! Here are 5 tips that you can use as well.
One
Know what type of skin you have. Each foundation is formulated to go with either dry or oily skin. getting the wrong type could cause the foundation the change on your skin throughout the day. Or even affect your skin by causing it to change (ie. breakouts).
Two
Know what type of product you want. Foundations can do different things; age fighting, illuminating, nourishing, etc. Decide what you want your foundation to do for you before you even go look. This will save you time and frustration.
Three
Read and trust the label. The foundation tells you exactly what it does, now trust it. There is testing, formulation, science stuff that we (most of us) don't know the first thing about! So trust the experts and read what they are giving you.
Four
For color matching, know your undertones. Each foundation keeps undertones in mind. Once again, just read the label. Undertones matching is the same for every skin color. Use your wrist and check the color of your veins. If your veins are blue/purple, you have cool undertones. If your veins are blue-green, you have neutral undertones. If you veins are green/olive, you have warm undertones. Check this

Five
If you can, pick out two colors that you think match. That way you have two to try and in most cases, one will match. But if not, you may be able to mix the colors for your perfect shade. If you get lucky, you can use them at different times of the year. You can also (in most cases) try it and return it. Just read your receipt.
I hope these tips help you. Let me know below if you need any further info or have any more tips to share.
